BPC Group has developed 3 standard types of boundary walls, where the static system is similar but the connection details and appearances vary. The standard walls are designed to a height of 2.0 to 4.0 meters above ground level and  in modules of 6 meters width. These can be custom designed to meet the individual project requirements in terms of height, width, design features, colours etc.

All 3 types of boundary walls are designed as self standing and resisting wind force only. However, special designs can also be incorporated in cases where there is a significant level difference between the inside and outside ground levels, where the boundary wall has to retain earth pressure in horizontal direction in addition to wind force.

All designs are according to British Standards with regards to wind loads, soil pressures and concrete strength.

Boundary Wall type 1

This standard system consists of separate eccentric or concentric foundations with columns which are erected directly on compacted road base soil. The columns are provided with a recess in which the Hollowcore Slabs or Panels are placed. The slabs are supported on the foundations for vertical load and on the columns for horizontal load.

The standard heights are 2.2m or 2.7 m above ground level. Other heights can also be designed if required.

Surfaces can only be delivered fair faced, ready to paint on one side and broomed or fair faced on the other.

The system is economical and is mainly used for industrial areas.

The system is designed in modules of 6 meters with the following design criteria:

Wind load, qk = 0.5 kN/m2

Soil bearing capacity, sbc = 100 kN/m2 to 150 kN/m2

Concrete strength, fck = 40 N/mm2
(60 N/mm2 for Hollowcore slabs)

Boundary Wall type 2

This standard system consists of separate eccentric pocket foundations which are erected directly on compacted road base soil. The walls are then erected on the foundations and grouted together through a shear key with projected galvanized stirrups which create stiff moment connection.

This system has the advantage that the walls’ outer face can be placed exactly in the plot limit line, meaning that the available area inside the plot is optimized.

 



Wall thicknesses are minimum 120mm, but have to be increased if the height exceeds 2.4 mm above ground level or if features with deep grooves are required.

All kinds of surfaces and features can be achieved using this system.

Standard walls are designed in modules of 6 m with the following design criteria:

Wind load, qk = 0.5 kN/m2

Soil bearing capacity, sbc = 150 kN/m2

Concrete strength, fck = 40 N/mm2

Boundary Wall type 3

This standard system is based on the same static system as type BW01 and the only difference is that the Hollowcore slabs replaced with solid panels.

For this system only the foundations can be placed in the plot line, meaning that the face of the columns will be placed 150 mm inside the plot line.

This system has the advantage that columns and walls can be made with different patterns, colours, surfaces and features.

Column sizes are minimum 300 x 350 mm and panel thickness is minimum 120mm, but has to be increased if features with deep grooves are required.

The standard system is designed in modules of 6 m with the following criteria:

Wind load, qk = 0.5 kN/m2

Soil bearing capacity, sbc = 120 kN/m2

Concrete strength, fck = 40 N/mm2
